CW TV series "Arrow" may be a superhero show but one thing that endears it to fans is Felicity Smoak (Emily Bett Rickards) and her roller coaster-like relationship with the protagonist Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell). (Watch out for "Arrow" Season 3 spoilers ahead) As seen in the last episodes, it seems the computer genius of the team wants to distance herself to Oliver after the latter's recent decisions. She no longer wants to be the woman the Emerald Archer loves. With this development, does this mean there's no more Olicity in the future? Will they still end up together?
On Twitter, "Arrow" showrunner Marc Guggenheim has been bombarded by fans with questions regarding the Emily-Oliver Queen relationship. In an interview with MTV, the writer finally addressed the inquiries of fans. He didn't spill any major "Arrow" Season 3 spoiler but his answer is probably something you would not want to hear if you are rooting for Oliver to end up with Emily.
"I'm going to be a dick and say 50-50. In large part because I want to see what the internet does with that comment," Guggenheim told MTV when asked what is the romantic chances of the two.
"I can see them losing their minds, but that's part of the fun. That's one of the perks of my job, is getting to see what the Internet does."
Guggenheim also explained why the Green Arrow decided to ("Arrow" Season 3 spoiler) reconcile with Malcolm Merlyn (John Barrowman) instead of fixing his relationship with Felicity.
"I think Oliver did the heroic thing, and made a selfless choice to put what he's doing right now ahead of any potential relationship with Felicity," Guggenheim elaborated to MTV.
"I don't think he expected Felicity to react the way that she did. So I don't know how premeditated the decision was on Oliver's part. One of the things I like about that scene between the two of them - I think it's the audience response too - Oliver and Felicity both have a very strong point of view, and a very defensible point a view, in that final scene of episode 12. Whenever you can maneuver your characters into a situation where they both have a good argument to make, you're on the right track."
