Samuel L. Jackson first made his appearance in a Marvel produced film in 2008's "Iron Man," to later on reveal that he signed on for a total of nine movies to play the role of S.H.I.E.L.D. leader Nick Fury in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The actor recently discussed his contract's status in an exclusive with IGN during a promotional interview for his movie "Kingsman: The Secret Service."

"I've only got two more movies in my contract. That might be the end of it unless I get an extension!" revealed the actor.

Since his first appearance, Jackson has starred in 2010's "Iron Man 2," 2011's "Captain America: The First Avenger," 2014's "Captain America: The Winter Soldier," in television's "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." and is expected in the upcoming "Avengers: Age of Ultron."

He is also set to appear in 2016's "Captain America: Civil War" narrowing down his contract to only one film.

Having appeared in the first "Avengers" installment, "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" and in episodes of "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.," Maria Hill (played by Cobie Smulders) is widely believed to be the successor of Nick Fury. She is also slated to appear with Jackson in "Age of Ultron" when it debuts on May 1.

The character Nick Fury was created by Jack Kirby and Stan Lee, first making an appearance in the comic book "Sgt. Fury and his Howling Commandoes" issue #1 in May 1963, where he originally portrayed a leader of an elite U.S. Army unit. The modern day incarnation of Fury which is closer to Jackson's version in the Marvel Cinematic Universe debuted in Fantastic Four issue #21 in Dec. 1963. The character was transformed from a CIA agent to the leader of covert agency S.H.I.E.L.D.
