Courtney Love made her debut last night in Fox TV series "Empire" and it definitely set social media on fire. (Watch out for spoilers ahead) The wife of late Nirvana singer Kurt Cobain joined the "Empire" TV series cast as Elle Dallas, a 'has-been' artist that Cookie Lyon (Taraji Henson) takes under her wings. Love's character was introduced in the show as someone who is sober and with some sense of direction. Turns out, Elle is exactly the opposite. However, that might change as the show progresses as Cookie get her to act rightfully to be able to revive her career.
Expect to see more of Courtney Love as reports say she will be in the "Empire" TV series cast for at least seven episodes. Also, expect her to sing songs you've never heard in her whole career. Courtney Love is a rocker and the Fox musical drama is more about hip-hop and R&B. Love admitted that she is not like Mariah Carey and singing like a diva in the show is hard and so, Lee Daniels, the series creator has to make several changes.
"The ability to hit crazy notes. I'm not Mariah. It's really written sort of as a mélange of Whitney - I think it's a tribute to her, initially, that's what the writers sort of thought of," Love said in an interview with Vulture.
"And then when Lee decided to cast me, we had to change it, because I mean, I - you know, I get compared to Dylan or Patti or Stipe or Bono, that's my peer group. So you know what I mean, I have a rock voice."
The new "Empire" TV series cast's tandem with a Cookie was well-received by fans. Well, even Love herself is excited about Elle-Cookie tandem. When asked what is her favorite in the show so far, she said 'Cookie.'
"Oh, well definitely Cookie. I mean, she's amazing. [Taraji] is just a giving and grateful actress, and you know, she's been a working actress for a very long time, but I think this is absolutely going to make her a superstar, and she deserves every bit of it. She's such a good actress."
