'Suicide Squad' Cast Members Margot Robbie And Will Smith Discuss Getting In Shape And Tom Hardy's Departure

Releasing shortly after "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice" in 2016 is DC's "Suicide Squad", an all-star supervillain movie helmed by "Fury" director David Ayer is coming to hit the big screen.

It will star Wll Smith (After Earth) as Deadshot, Jared Leto (Requiem For A Dream) as The Joker, Margot Robbie (Focus) as Harley Quinn, Jai Courtney (Terminator: Genisys) as Captain Boomerang, Viola Davis (How To Get Away With Murder) and Cara Delevigne (The Face of An Angel) as The Enchantress.

Smith and Robbie, who are both starring in the upcoming movie "Focus" spoke with USA Today to promote the film where they also discussed Tom Hardy's departure from "Suicide Squad."

"This happens all the time. People act like, 'Oh my god, the movie must be ending!' It's just the deal with movies... A lot of the characters haven't been portrayed before so it's a pretty big undertaking. And it's a big undertaking for the people who are going to play the characters who have been played, like the Joker. It's big shoes to fill," said Robbie.

"It's almost impossible to get a movie all together when there are two main cast members, let alone an ensemble cast with everyone's schedules. It's crazy if it works out," she added.

Set to take on the role of the squad's commander Rick Flag, Tom Hardy reportedly left the project because he was unsatisfied with the script with rumors going around that he only had a small part in the movie.

Smith also cleared up a few things in the interview. He revealed that scheduling conflicts with "Mad Max: Fury Road" (Hardy's other project) wasn't the reason why he left "Suicide Squad."

"What happens is Hollywood shuts down. But [Ayer] was still working and he wanted to (start shooting) April 13th. So it takes a couple weeks to gear back up at the top of the year and people have taken (other) movies. He's moving really quickly," he said.

The two also have started getting in shape for "Suicide Squad."

"I started before Christmas. No carbs on Christmas! It was terrible," Smith claimed.

"I ate everything on Christmas," Robbie said after and claimed that she is instead focusing on strength training. "I'm not strong though. To do all your own stunts you have to be so strong."

"Suicide Squad" opens in theaters on Aug. 5, 2016.
