Reception of the "Kick-Ass" and the sequel are very much different. The first one is deemed a critical success while the second was generally panned.
Those who love the comics to which the two movies were based from are probably yearning to see the franchise redeem itself or better yet, see producers and filmmakers leave it alone.
Well, here's a major news regarding the comic characters Hit-Girl and Kick-Ass (played in the movies by Chloe Grace Moretz and Aaron Taylor-Johnson) - two more films about the superhero wannabe and the cold-blood kid wonder could be coming.
In an interview with Joblo's Eric Walkuski, Matthew Vaughn made major revelations about the franchise. Vaughn directed the first Kick-Ass film and acted as producer for the sequel. The director revealed a standalone Hit-Girl movie and Kick-Ass 3 is being worked on right now.
"Do you know what's going to be next if I do it... we've finished plotting it. What we have to do is, we've got to do the FIRST CLASS to the KICK-ASS world," said the 43-year old director and screenwriter who is currently promoting his new film "Kingsman: The Secret Service" wherein he is the director, writer, and producer.
"We lost a few fans on Kick-Ass 2. It wasn't as loved as one would've hoped. So we have this idea for a Hit Girl prequel. It's a really strong, really simple prequel where I think we can regain the love and the passion. If that happens, I'm pretty sure I can persuade Aaron and Chloe to come back and finish the story of Kick-Ass with Kick-Ass 3."
Vaughn also said that he and Mark Millar, the author of the "Kick Ass" comics, have already plotted "Hit Girl" prequel.
When asked if he will direct "Kick-Ass 3," Vaughn said he wouldn't. Instead he will pass it to Gareth Evans, the brain behind hit action films "The Raid: Redemption" and "The Raid 2: Berandal."
Do you think "Kick-Ass 3" and "Hit-Girl" prequel is necessary?
