Spiderman teaming up with the Avengers is now more than possible as Marvel announced that it has reached a deal with Sony Pictures that will allow Peter Parker to crossover to their cinematic universe.
Now, with the two companies in the same page, films where Spiderman is set to appear seem to be all set. According to a report by the Wall Street Journal, Spidey will be in 2016's "Captain America: Civil War." Because of this, the "Sinister Six" film, a project about Spidey's famous villains, will be moved to a later date.
The biggest question though in this news about the Spiderman-Marvel Cinematic Universe reunion is, who's going to play Peter Parker. Andrew Garfield, the most recent to wear the red and blue costume, are among the favorites. However, it seems he is not too hopeful about landing the role.
In a report by the Daily Beast, it said the 31-year old actor held talks with Sony and Marvel about the continuity of his role as Spiderman. That discussion didn't produce good results for him. The Daily Beast wrote:
"Garfield had discussions about continuing his involvement in the surprise new Spidey venture announced by Sony and Marvel late Monday night, but ultimately it didn't make sense to keep him for what will be a new chapter for Spider-Man, the source said. The role will be recast as Sony and Marvel look to reboot the character, yet again."
Marvel is yet to name who will play Spiderman. One thing that is sure though is the studio will look for someone who is younger than Andrew Garfield. The Hollywood Reporter claims Sony co-chairman Amy Pascal will have a huge role in the selection of the Spiderman actor.
"And though Spider-Man will first appear in an unnamed Marvel movie, Sony and Pascal will have more influence over the actor cast in the iconic role because Sony retains final approval. The studio is currently looking for an actor much younger than 31-year-old Andrew Garfield, who most recently portrayed the superhero, as well as a writer for its reboot."
