You probably read or heard it by now. Kanye West again stole the show during the 57th Grammy Awards, but not for good reasons. The "Heartless" singer repeated, almost, what she did in the 2009 edition of the awards show with Taylor Swift as victim. As Beck is set to start his acceptance speech after receiving the Best Album award, Kanye West tried to step in again to say Beyonce's self-titled album should have won it. He changed his mind at the last second. Still, this stunt of his earned backlash both from the public and people from the music industry.
For Shirley Manson, vocalist of the alternative rock band Garbage, Kanye West's stunt at the 57th Grammy Awards was pointless and only made a mockery of other artists. In her Facebook page, Manson called out the beau of Kim Kardashian saying he only makes himself look 'small and petty and spoilt.'
"It is YOU who is so busy disrespecting artistry. You disrespect your own remarkable talents and more importantly you disrespect the talent, hard work and tenacity of all artists when you go so rudely and savagely after such an accomplished and humble artist like BECK," Manson wrote about Kanye West.
"You make yourself look small and petty and spoilt.
In attempting to reduce the importance of one great talent over another, you make a mockery of all musicians and music from every genre, including your own.
Grow up and stop throwing your toys around.
You are making yourself look like a complete twat.
Ps.I am pretty certain Beyonce doesn't need you fighting any battles on her account. Seems like she's got everything covered perfectly well on her own."
Shortly after the 'almost' stage ambush from Kanye West, Beck made himself heard about the incident. The 57th Grammy Awards Best Album winner was a class act.
"I was just so excited he was coming up. He deserves to be on stage as much as anybody. How many great records has he put out in the last five years right?" the 44-year old singer songwriter said in an interview with the US Weekly.
When asked if Beyonce should have won the 57th Grammy Awards Best Album, Beck has this to say:
"Absolutely. I thought she was going to win. Come on, she's Beyoncé!"
"You can't please everybody, man,' he continued. 'I still love him and think he's genius. I aspire to do what he does."
