Alicia Shaffer, a mom-of-three from California, has been selling 3,000 items per day and earns $65,000 a month on Etsy.
Her Three Bird Nest store offers beanies, scarves, and other handmade accessories, The Daily Mail reports.
She began making hair pieces, and opened up her Etsy store in 2011 as an extension of her boutique in Livermore.
"I opened an Etsy shop, figuring I'd help pay for dance lessons or offset the boutique's sales," Shaffer told The Organic Bloom.
She also revealed to The Organic Bloom her struggles putting up her online store and shipping the products online.
"I remember being so stressed with getting all the orders out & crying at 3am because I was so overwhelmed with getting everything made & shipped on time. Yet at the same time I was so overwhelmed with joy at the success of the shop and appreciation for my customers. Needless to say, I kept at it & added Spring items - scarves and leg warmers that added variety to my line, as well as offer additional items for my repeat customers," Alicia explained.
According to Handemadeology, Shaffer's Three Bird Nest store is listed as the fifth best-selling page on Etsy in 2014 with a total of 90,726 sales.
"I love textiles, fabric, fashion, designs, and seeing how different colors and fabrics pair together," she said. "You will find me with my little sketch book and notebook anywhere I go so that I don't miss a moment to write down my next idea."
The Daily Mail adds that Alicia does not have any background on textiles and fabrics, but worked with leather for years.
Meanwhile, The Inquistr reports that Shaffer's products caused some uproar on her "honesty in regards to the handmade aspect of her products," as some people claim that her product were purchased in China.
"Unfortunately, her products seem to be bought elsewhere rather than made as it didn't take 2 minutes to find the exact same boot cuffs on aliexpress, with a different model before people say THEY are stealing photos from her. It is a crying shame there are people who sell like this on etsy as there as so many wonderful hand crafters out there that deserve recognition," a user claims she found an exact item on AliExpress.
