Grammy Awards Veterans Talks About Fox TV Series 'Empire,' Its Cast, And What The Show Means To The Music Industry

| By

The 57th Grammy Awards held days ago had its highlights and lowlights. The event, held at the Staples Center in L.A. saw outrageous outfits, scene stealers (Hello Kanye), and intense performances from Hozier and Annie Lennox, AC/DC, Katy Perry, and more.

It was one night of the best of the best in music. With the annual show's curtain now closed but if you still want to see cool performances, you can watch the cast of Fox TV series "Empire" belt it out week for week.

As recommended by some Grammy Awards veteran, you can still enjoy good music in the hit musical drama.

In an interview with the Entertainment Weekly, some artists present in the 2015 Grammy Awards gave props to "Empire" TV series cast and the job they are doing for the music industry.

Ledisi, who was nominated for the Best R&B Performance for her single "Like This," commended Taraji Henson for her convincing portrayal of Cookie.

"I love her (Taraji Henson) honesty on set, not on set, but the way she delivers that character is so honest, it's like your aunty at home," said Ledisi.

"It's a cultural thing. You have to be in it to understand. It hits too close to home for most of us, most of the viewers. And I just love the writing of it, its honesty. It's just raw."

For singer Jess Glynne, she's not just amused of the "Empire" TV series cast but also of its storyline and how it helps people understand the stressful works before the song and music videos get released. She admitted though that she has yet to catch-up on the show.

"If you're not in the industry, you don't know what goes on and you don't know anything about it. It's kind of exciting to know what goes on behind the scenes. You buy music everyday and you don't know the behind the scenes stuff that's going on. I can imagine that's probably why," said Glynne who was also present at the 57th Grammy Awards.

Don't be surprised if you see more Grammy Awards nominees in the show. In fact, some music elite are already slated to join the "Empire" TV series cast. Jennifer Hudson and Rita Ora are both set to appear in the show. Grammy Awards winner Courtney Love will be in the next episode. American rapper, record producer, and songwriter Timbaland is also working in the show as music producer.
