It turns out that "X Men: Days of Future Past" isn't the last movie that stars Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen would be playing their iconic characters. Albeit separate, the actors are set to appear in two upcoming "X Men" films.
Patrick Stewart told The Oregonian the he will definitely will not be making an appearance in Bryan Singer's "X Men: Apocalpyse," but instead has confirmed that Ian McKellen would be returning to reprise his role as the old Magneto.
"Yes, I understand that it seems to be very unlikely that I will be in the next 'X-Men' movie, which is almost getting ready to start shooting in Montreal," said the actor when asked to confirm that he won't be appearing in "Apocalypse."
"But Magneto, Ian McKellen, is certainly going to be in it. And what I'm very excited about is that we have been talking about a Wolverine movie, which would team Hugh Jackman and myself together," Stewart said. "Wolverine and Professor Xavier. That would be a very different sort of 'X-Men' from the four movies that I've already done."
"X Men: Apocalypse" has confirmed newcomers Sophie Turner, Alexandra Shipp and Tye Sheridan playing the younger versions of Jean Grey, Storm and Cyclopse, respectively.
Along with "Deapool" and "Gambit," "Apocalypse" completes the three "X Men" films to be released in 2016. The third yet-untitled "Wolverine" film is expected in 2017. A complete list of Fox's upcoming releases appears below.
