Kobe Bryant's wife, Vanessa Bryant, clarified comments she made for New York Magazine's story in which she says that she does not want to be married to someone who doesn't win championships.
In the interview, Bryant had seemed to suggest she would not want to be married to someone who isn't a winner. "I certainly would not want to be married to somebody that can't win championships," she said to New York Magazine.
"If you're sacrificing time away from my family and myself for the benefit of winning championships, then winning a championship should happen every single year," she added. Vanessa Bryant is now hitting back at the magazine saying they misrepresented what she said and took it out of context.
"I'm sad to hear that comments in my New York magazine interview are being misconstrued and taken out of context," Bryant said in a statement to TMZ. "I have and will continue to support my husband's dreams. I have been with Kobe for 13 years. I accepted his marriage proposal PRIOR to him winning any of his five championships with his teammates.
Kobe and Vanessa Bryant have been married for 11 years and have gone through their fair share of ups and downs. Vanessa, 30, filed for divorce last year, citing irreconcilable differences and terms for a settlement of his estimated $150 million estate were even negotiated. This was then followed by a reconciliation this past Valentine's Day.
Vanessa and Kobe were recently spotted together with their two daughters during the 2012 London Games. Vanessa has also been responding to rumors that she had plastic surgery after photos of her at the Olympics emerged where she appeared to have fuller lips and a thinner nose. Her reps are denying these claims.
