"Constantine" TV Series will air its 13th and last episode on Feb. 13.
Will it be the last time that fans will see the TV version of the quirky British supernatural detective? In NBC, maybe yes but in another network, there is a probability of "Constantine" season 2. Recent reports claimed the NBC horror show based on popular DC Comics series "Hellblazer" could be moving to Syfy.
In a report by Cinelinx's Jordan Maison, it said that the NBC TV series "Constantine" that stars Matt Ryan in the title role might move to American basic cable channel Syfy. The writer said the TV station is "searching" for ways to keep "Constantine" going.
"I've heard from a couple of sources now that NBC doesn't really want to give up on "Constantine" and are actively searching for ways to keep the show going," Maison wrote.
"Let me preface the next thing I'm about say with this: the sources have made it clear that this is an IDEA/possible plan being bandied about. So it's not 100% and may not come to pass, but it is one of the more popular ideas being put out there right now amongst the show-heads."
Their preferred solution? Move it to another network and give it a new title.
"The idea here isn't so much to keep 'Constantine' going on NBC but to move it to the Syfy Channel (where the marathon they ran of the show did very well) and rebranding it as Hellblazer. The new channel would give them a little more freedom to explore some of the darker aspects of the comic and appeal to a broader fanbase."
Just last week, NBC named the shows that will get a new season but "Constantine" TV series was not one of them. The show has been fighting for its life since its premiere due to its low ratings performance even if it has received good reviews from entertainment websites. To save the show, fans came up with the #SaveConstantine campaign hoping to gather thousands of signature and encouraging fans to email NBC to renew the comic-book based show.
