"Jurassic World" is Universal Studios' follow up to 1993's "Jurassic Park" - Steven Spielberg's blockbuster that brought dinosaurs back on the big screen. Set 20 years after the events of the first film, "Jurassic World" is just as John Hammond envisioned the park; a fully-functioning theme park complete with hotels & botiques receiving 20,000 visitors a year.
The park which is nested in Isla Nublar in Central America's Pacific coast is now operated by a new company - Masrani Global Incorporated.
Unbeknownst to anyone including the park's staff is that Masrani has been developing hybrid dinosaurs to attract more tourists; these artificial beasts break out and terrorize the park and its guests.
We have previously reported details of a certain dinosaur, the "Indominus Rex," seen in the Super Bowl XLIX trailer and is apparently killing for "sport."
Also seen in the trailer is Owen (played by Pratt) and his vague relationship with the Velociraptors. Director Colin Trevorrow elaborates on the idea of a human being a leader of a pack of dinosaurs in this interview with Empire Magazine.
"Owen's relationship with the raptors is complicated. They aren't friends. These animals are nasty and dangerous and they'll bite your head off if you make the wrong move," said Trevorrow.
"But there are men and women out there today who have forged tenuous connections with dangerous predators. That's interesting territory to me."
"Jurassic World" is the fourth film of the franchise; the last film released was "Jurassic Park III" in 2001.
Colin Trevorrow was reportedly handpicked by Spielberg to helm the movie. Starring Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas-Howard, Ty Simpkins, Nick Robinson, Jake Johnson, Lauren Lapkus, James Dumont, Andy Buckley and Vincent D'Onofrio.
"Jurassic World" opens in theaters on June 12.
