Jennifer Lawrence in an out-of-this-world love story with a guardian of the galaxy?
"Jurrasic World" star Chris Pratt joins "Hunger Games" femme fatale Jennifer Lawrence in the upcoming Sony sci-fi film, "Passengers." Here are plot and release date details available so far.
In a report by Variety, the "Hunger Games" star is said to be "in early talks to star in Sony's space drama 'Passengers,'" and actor Chris Pratt is said to take on the lead role in the film.
Sony's film "Passenger" has been in development for quite sometime now, and was slated to be lead by "John Wick" star Keanu Reeves. More than a year ago, details of his "Passenger" film was posted online, revealing that although Sony may have replaced the lead star, some key production post have remained.
"The Imitation Game" director Morten Tyldum has been eyed to direct since "Passenger's" early development, and is said to be in final talks to spearhead the film come the release date. Jon Spaihts pens the script for the sci-fi romance film. He is known for his work in "Prometheus."
According to ComingSoon.net, Sony's "Passenger" plot is "set in the future." It "centers on Jim Preston [Chris Pratt], a mechanic on a 120-year journey to a distant colonized planet in another galaxy, who becomes the first traveler to experience pod hibernation failure. Having woken up 100 years too soon, he is stranded in the world of an interstellar spaceship with only robots and androids for companionship. A year into his journey, he decides to wake up a fellow passenger, a beautiful journalist named Aurora [Jennifer Lawrence]. They fall in love but must soon deal not only with the revelation of Jim's misjudged act of waking her but a major malfunction of the ship itself."
Prior to Jennifer Lawrence's involvement, Reese Witherspoon and Rachel McAdams were among the initial picks to portray Aurora.
"Passengers" was initially scheduled for an April 2015 release date. However, with changes to casting, progress in development, and the schedule of lead stars Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt, reports are now saying that even a 2016 release date is almost nearly impossible.
