Microsoft has announced on XboxWire that the Xbox One February update has started to roll out. The update includes the introduction of Game Hubs, improvement on controller, party chat and live TV streaming for Windows Phones and Android to Xbox Live members in Europe via Digital TV Tuner.
With the new update gamers can now access a new function called Game Hub that allows playing the and competing with friends in game leaderboards; viewing of game clips and game broadcasts, and following the game's top broadcasters and clip creators.
In addition, gamers can also check out upcoming updates and DLC, game clips and trailers, and other contents shared by game developers on the activity feed.
Meanwhile, controller enhancement was also included on the list. It was noted on MajorNelson's announcement that controllers can now be connected in about two seconds as it was previously reported that it takes 4-5 seconds to power up, and controller disconnecting issues have already been addressed too.
Moreover, several changes on party chats were also made. Chat icons were added to determine connection status such as: clock icon indicates a connection is in progress, squawker ring icon to identify that the connection succeeded, and x icon means that there's a network limitation.
Gamers may also expect a faster person-to-person (P2P) connectivity for party chat as the time for setting up a party session has been decreased. Notifications were also redesigned for game and party invitations, gamers can now see which friends are inviting them and what party or game the invite is for, without scrolling down the notification.
Custom background and tile transparency is still limited to some backgrounds due to usage rights and restrictions.
Microsoft has also added more options on the Live TV feature. Gamers in the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy and Spain can check out video frames when fast-forwarding or rewinding paused TV on Xbox One consoles via Xbox One Digital TV Tuner, and live stream on their Windows phones or Android. While OneGuide has been added for Xbox Live members in the Netherlands.
