Since "Star Wars Episode 7: The Force Awakens" has wrapped with filming, fans have been treated to a number of updates including some new character names, which was revealed recently.
A first look trailer introducing new characters, familiar places and an epic battle scene of the Millenium Falcon in action have been all the buzz in "Star Wars" circles as of late. Director J.J. Abrams was gracious enough to have revealed the names of the new faces in the footage.
- In the opening scene, the Storm Trooper without the helmet is character the character Finn, played by John Boyega.
- The Alliance starfighter pilot seen in the cockpit is goes by the name of Poe Dameron, played by Oscar Isaac
- The lady riding a landspeeder, her character's name is Rey, played by actres Daisy Ridley
- The fellow in the snowy forest who activates his unconventional lightsaber is Kylo Ren.
- The rolling, spherical droid is called BB-8.
Additional casting have been made, apparently handpicked by the director himself. Indonesian actor Iko Uwais now joins the cast of Episode 7, and with him his fellow "The Raid" co-stars Yayan Ruhian and Cecep Arif Rahman. THR confirms the participation of the actors, though unclear if they're officially cast or just in charge of fight choreography.
"The Raid 2" is hailed as one of 2014's best action films, with fight scenes incomparable to anything that has been released lately. It is for certain that fans will be seeing some action they've never seen before in any of the previous "Star Wars" installments.
Episode VII will star Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher playing their iconic roles and will also introduce new stars such as Oscar Isaac (A Most Violent Year), Adam Davis (Girls), John Boyega (Attack The Block), Daisy Ridley (Livesaver), Gwendoline Christie (Game of Thrones, Hunger Games) and Oscar winner Lupita Nyong'O (12 Years a Slave).
