Before "The Blacklist" season 2 took a hiatus in Nov. 10 last year, the question of who is Raymond Reddington (James Spader) to Elizabeth Keen (Megan Boone) was kept hanging.
She finally got to know who her husband really is but when it comes to information as to why Red is so invested in her, there's no answer yet. When the NBC crime drama returns on Febr. 1, Superbowl, the dots connecting the two main characters will be connected.
According to a "The Blacklist" season 2 episode guide from the Entertainment Weekly, the show will finally answer one of the biggest questions being thrown by fans.
"That is a question that we're going to continue to explore with the nature of their relationship, how they're connected and what happened so many years ago," "The Blacklist" executive producer Jon Bokenkamp was quoted as saying to EW.
"That is something that we're going to talk about in the second part of the Super Bowl two-parter and it will continue to affect their relationship. The discoveries that Liz will make in the second part of the Super Bowl episode will have real ramifications on their relationship moving forward."
The two-part Super Bowl special of "The Blacklist" season 2 will air on Feb. 1 and 5.
But before the Red-Liz connection, the team from FBI will have to deal first with Luther Braxton (Ron Perlman), the next man on Reddington's list.
"The Blacklist" season 2 episode guide reads below:
"The task force tries to save Red when he's arrested and taken to a secret detention facility At the facility, Red tangles with a thief (Ron Perlman) with whom he shares a complicated history."
Aside from Spader and Boone, also in the show are Diego Klattenhoff as FBI special agent Donald Ressler, Harry Lennix as FBI Counterterrorism Division director Harold Cooper, and Ryan Eggold as Tom Keen, the strange husband of Elizabether who is working with Reddington.
