Melissa Rivers Files Formal Lawsuit Against Yorkville Endoscopy; Shocking New Details Revealed About Joan Rivers’ Death

| By

Melissa Rivers has filed a formal lawsuit against Yorkville Endoscopy, which resulted to the revelation of shocking new details regarding Joan Rivers' death.

According to a report from New York Daily News, Melissa Rivers' lawsuit documents detailed how the death of her iconic mother resulted from negligence of doctors of the said medical facility. The now infamous Upper East Side outpatient clinic was where the late comedienne went for a routine throat procedure last August 2014.

The botched operation placed Joan Rivers in a coma and led to her death a week later on September 4, 2014. She was 81 years old.

Melissa Rivers' lawsuit was filed at the Manhattan Supreme Court and specified the doctors who were allegedly responsible for Joan Rivers' death: former Yorkville Endoscopy medical director Lawrence B. Cohen, celebrity ear, nose, and throat specialist Gwen Korovin, anaesthesiologist Renuka Reddy Bankulla, and two other medical personnel.

Court documents narrated how the staff were allegedly so engrossed in taking cellphone photos of Joan Rivers during the actual procedure. Melissa Rivers' lawsuit papers also even detailed how Yorkville Endoscopy's medical director even allegedly dismissed warnings from the anaesthesiologist, who noticed how Joan Rivers' vital signs went down.

"Had the doctors acted as physicians for Joan Rivers instead of groupies, Joan Rivers would have been doing 'Fashion Police' last week," said Jeffrey Bloom, one of the family's lawyers from Gair, Gair, Conason, Steigman McKauf, Bloom and Rabinowitz.

Following Melissa Rivers' official lawsuit filing, the 47-year-old expressed why she is proceeding with the high-profile case.

"No family should ever have to go through what my mother, (son) Cooper and I have been through," Melissa Rivers said, reported by New York Daily News.

"The level of medical mismanagement, incompetency, disrespect and outrageous behavior is shocking and frankly almost incomprehensible."

"Not only did my mother deserve better, every patient deserves better," Melissa Rivers said.
