The last "Brooklyn Nine Nine" episode saw Jake Peralta (Andy Samberg) getting dumped by Sophia Perez (Eva Longoria) after he put his nose on the latter's work.
Jake was trying to smooth things out with her girlfriend and what he did is try to get along with her boss who he later caught sniffing cocaine. And being a police officer, he arrested the boss. Sophia was not glad with what Jake did and so, she decided to split with him.
With Jake now single again, is there a chance he and Amy Santiago (Melissa Fumero) will be romantically linked again? As you know by now, Jake tried to date his colleague but his efforts went into naught as he was too late because Amy is dating somebody else. They decided to be cool with each other and not talked about it anymore.
Well, good news if you're rooting for their ship. According to a "Brooklyn Nine Nine" episode guide from the Entertainment Weekly, there is a chance this season.
Quoting Andy Samberg, EW said the show is now exploring bringing Jake and Amy together.
"I'll give you a definitive yes on that," Samberg told the entertainment website.
"It's still complicated. They've settled into a nice recovered friendship. The question is always a little bit there beneath the surface of: Are they great friends or is there something more?"
"Brooklyn Nine Nine" executive producer Dan Goor confirmed this. However, he warned that fans need to be patient.
"We're trying to build towards something between the two of them maybe happening," he said.
"When two people who are attracted together are working together, things happen, so yes, something could happen."
According to Fumero, the Jake-Amy romance might start in a case they will be working together, something they haven't done in a while. She refused to give a clear "Brooklyn Nine Nine" season 2 episode guide, but said it will be a great Jake-Amy time.
"We get to see them do some fun cop work together, which we haven't seen in a while," Fumero says. "It's great Jake-and-Amy time. I don't think it's going to be what people expect it to be. There are so many colors and dynamics to that relationship, and the writers are really having fun with exploring that.." Fumero revealed.
"Brooklyn Nine Nine" episode 15 will air next week, Feb. 8 titled "Hostages."
