Jason Momoa Talks 'Aquaman' Role; Character To Debut In 'Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice' On March 2016

While it took a long time for Warner Bros. and DC to cast the "Aquaman" role, fans now know that the character is in good hands.

Officially being cast as the "King of Atlantis," "Game of Thrones" star Jason Momoa will debut his character next year in "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice."

He's also slated to appear in 2017's "Justice League - Part 1" before his standalone movie "Aquaman" in 2018. Fans are excited to see the hero portrayed by by the Hawaiian native, bringing diversity to a Hollywood that has a penchant for "whitewashing" when it comes to casting roles.

The actor expressed his delight in taking on the character, as well as the amount of work he had to do for him to be acknowleged in Hollywood in an interview with The Daily Beast. The full quote appears below via Screen Rant.

"I've had to bust ass to be in this industry. A lot of things are very black and white. Aquaman is especially cool because being a Kanaka Maoli-being Hawaiian-our Gods are Kanaloa and Maui, and the Earth is 71 percent water, so I get to represent that. And I'm someone who gets to represent all the islanders, not some blond-haired superhero," said Momoa.

"It's cool that there's a brown-skinned superhero," added the actor.

"Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice" is directed by Zack Snyder and will star Henry Cavill as Superman, Ben Affleck as the new Batman, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, Lawrence Fishburne as Perry White, Amy Adams as Lois Lane and Diane Lane as Martha Kent. The movie is set to release in theaters on March 25, 2016.
