Gertrude Bell was one of the first women to graduate from Oxford at the turn of the 20th century; she traveled through the Middle East, defining the borders of Iraq, Jordan and Saudi Arabia. Lawrence was a good friend to Bell over the years, as the duo helped establish the Hashemite dynasties in Jordan and Iraq.
Pattinson made his first post-Kristen Stewart cheating scandal interview Monday night on The Daily Show with host Jon Stewart. The host tried to break the ice with Pattinson and casually asked "'So, what have you been up to?"
Pattinson, 26, replied awkwardly "I thought we'd already prepared this. I had a joke prepared! I was all set up and ready to go. Now it's meaningless." Stewart tried to lessen his nerves by trying to make him more comfortable and said: "We're just a couple of gals talking."
After a few laughs from the audience, Jon steered the conversation back around, saying: "So what are we doing here? I'm worried about you. Are you alright?"

Pattinson will appear on Good Morning America tomorrow morning for another interview, promoting "Cosmopolis" and he may also be questioned on how he's handling the situation.
