"House of Cards" Kevin Spacey takes on a new form as he is set to star in upcoming film "Nine Lives" as a cat. "Get Shorty" (1995) director Barry Sonnenfeld takes the helm.
Known for his portrayal of Frank Underwood in the political drama series "House of Cards", Kevin Spacey reportedly signed on into the "Nine Lives" project as the lead character. Spearheaded by producer EuropaCorp who is behind "Lucy" (2014) and "Taken 3" (2015), they have also taken in director Barry Sonnenfeld for the film.
Apart from the critically acclaimed "Get Shorty," Barry Sonnenfeld is also known from "The Addams Family" films and the "Men in Black" trilogy.
Talking to Deadline, Sonnenfeld shares about the upcoming "Nine Lives" film. He said, "I'm very excited to be working with Christopher, Lisa, Luc and the rest of the EuropaCorp team on this funny, emotional, commercial comedy. Perhaps I'll also get over my severe allergy and dislike of cats."
In the same report, "Nine Lives" plot details revolve around the character to be played by "House of Cards" star Kevin Spacey. His busy life as a businessman will be interrupted as he finds himself trapped inside the body of his family cat following a terrible accident.
"Nine Lives" is penned by Daniel Antoniazzi and Ben Shiffrin. Apart from lead character casting and plot, release date and other information have yet to be revealed by EuropaCorp.
To date, after working on "House of Cards" season 3 as Frank Underwood, Kevin Spacey is reportedly filming the upcoming indie film "Elvis & Nixon," where he will portray President Richard Nixon. While director Barry Sonnenfeld is said to be involved in the film adaptation of "Gil's All Fright Diner" and possibly the live action movie adaptation of "The Metal Man."
