'Gambit' Movie Under Fox Casts Channing Tatum As Lead; Movie Due Out On Oct. 7, 2016

20th Century Fox has been keeping busy with their slew of releases in the coming years - Josh Trank's "Fantastic Four" remake, which is set to release in theaters this year.

Ubisoft's popular "Assassin's Creed" is also getting a feature film and will star Michael Fassbender and Bryan Singer's "X Men: Apocalypse," probably the studio's most anticipated release.

In a head turning announcment, Fox also cast Channing Tatum in an upcoming "Gambit" film set for release on Oct. 7, 2016.

Reports say that though Tatum has just been recently announced, he might still appear in "X Men: Apocalypse" as "Gambit."

"Gambit was always like the woman-loving, cigarette-smoking, drinking guy. He was the punk rock of all the superheroes. He's a thief. He kind of rode the line," said Tatum of his mutant character in an interview with Empire Online.

In other Fox related releases, a third "Planet of The Apes" film has been announced, which will be directed by Matt Reeves and a P.T. Barnum movie titled "The Greatest Showman On Earth," starring Hugh Jackman.

The "Fantastic Four" remake stars Kate Mara, Jamie Bell, Michael B. Jordan, Miles Teller and Toby Kebbell will make its way to the big screen on June 2, 2017, following is director Matt Reeves "Dawn of The Planet of The Apes" sequel on July 14, 2017.

Three films from the "X Men" series are set for 2016. Kicking things off is Ryan Reynolds as the "merc with a mouth" in "Deadpool" on February 12 followed by Bryan Singer's "X Men: Apocalypse" on May 27. Channing Tatum will close off the year starring as Remy LaBeau in "Gambit" on October 7.

"Wolverine 3" arrives on March 3, 2017 followed by an untitled "X Men" movie scheduled for July 13, 2018.
