Chad "Occhocinco" Johnson has been terminated from the Miami Dolphins just24 hours after he was arrested in a domestic battery case involving his wife, "Basketball Wives" star Evelyn Lozada.
Dolphins linebacker Karlos Dansby voiced his displeasure at Johnson's release in an interview with a South Florida radio station Monday.
"I hate that we didn't stand behind him," Dansby told WMEN-AM on Monday. "I know the guys in the locker room would. But the organization felt a totally different way about the situation, and they probably had more information than we know. And they had to do what they had to do."
The couple, who has been married for less than a month, got into an argument Saturday evening after Evelyn Lozada found a receipt for a box of condoms in his car and confronted the NFL player, according to TMZ.
The fight got heated and resulted in "Occhocinco" Johnson, 34, head-butting Evelyn so hard that she is reported to have had lacerations on her forehead. Other sources say that Evelyn spent several hours in the hospital. According to the report, Lozada "fled on foot to a neighbor's house to get away from Johnson." A police report notes that Johnson drove around the neighborhood looking for Lozada, who had called police from the neighbor's home.
Johnson was released from jail on $2,500 bond Sunday at 10 a.m. EST- and hours later released by the Dolphins.

The couple are working on their own reality series for the network. No word on how Johnson's arrest over the weekend will impact that show.
Evelyn Lozada and Chad Johnson were married on July 4, 2012. A domestic dispute involving the police could give the couple the not-so-coveted distinction of the shortest marriage of the decade. Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries, who were married a total of 72 days, currently hold that dubious honor.
Support for Evelyn Lozada poured out across Twitter. "I feel sorry for you...no one deserves that. I would also hope it's not for tv ratings your too grown for that," wrote one. "Not even a Evelyn fan but no woman deserves any of this. Stay strong."
Johnson has been one of the NFL's biggest stars of the last decade, known for both his big plays and silly behavior. He legally changed his last name to Ochocinco in 2008.
