Fox TV series "Gotham" is on a roll. The "Batman" prequel show has just been renewed along with newcomer "Empire" and "Brooklyn Nine-Nine."
Its ratings is also improving as in its first episode of 2015, the show experienced a one million viewers leap from its mid-season finale. Although the last episode titled "What the Little Bird Told Him" saw a slight drop, it is still on track.
The show is doing great as a whole but there is no denying that Robin Lord Taylor, who plays Oswald "The Penguin" Cobblepot, stands out among the rest. His performance as the deceptive and lunatic young Penguin is a scene stealer.
Taylor has received praises from entertainment websites but none is probably more precious than the words from the veteran actor who gave life to the character on the big screen, Danny DeVito. DeVito portrayed the Penguin in Tim Burton's 1992 film "The Batman Returns" opposite Christopher Walken.
At the Television Critics Association Winter Tour last week, Devito told Access Hollywood he is watching the show himself and one man who caught his eye is his TV counterpart Taylor.
"I've watched the show. I think he's a very good young Penguin," DeVito said. "He's a terrific actor," he added referring to Taylor.
The words of DeVito about "Gotham" and The Penguin has reached Taylor and naturally, he is overwhelmed.
"I still can't get over it. I've said it before, but I've watched 'Batman Returns' a billion times, it's one of those films where I can continually watch it over and over again because of his performance," the "Gotham" TV series cast said in an interview with Too Fab. "it doesn't get any better than that. I just feels incredible."
"Gotham" TV series will return on Jan. 26 for the episode "Welcome Back, Jim Gordon."
