Chinese Tech Giant Xiaomi Reveals Latest Flagship Smartphone Mi Note; Larger, Thinner And Lighter Phablet

| By

Remember the three missing adjectives of Xiaomi's teaser for its new product?

We can now fill in the blanks as world's top 3 phone manufacturer recently unveiled the larger, thinner and lighter Mi Note phablet, which is now being largely compared to Apple's iPhone 6 plus.

The Chinese tech giant's CEO Lei Jun finally unmasked their latest flagship smartphone last Thursday at an event in its home hub.

He was also open to the new gadget being compared with Samsung's Galaxy Note apart from the iPhone 6 Plus. In the end, the company noted that buyers who want to have their smartphones similar in quality and in size to either Galaxy Note or 6 Plus but not necessarily pricey will definitely resolve to having the Mi Note instead.

According to IDC Analyst Bryan Ma, Xiaomi's "going phablet" with the Note wasn't really surprising.

"It was an obvious gap in their portfolio that was only being serviced by a low-end Redmi Note before. High-end users need their phablets too," the IDC Analyst added.

The Mi Note boasts of a 5.7-inch IPS LCD display, with 1,080 x 1,920 pixel screen resolution, having a 386 ppi pixel density. Furthermore, it is 0.28-inch thick and weighs 161 g, being significantly lighter than 6 Plus. The new device is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor clocked at 2.5GHz, and 3GB of RAM, while runs on Android v4.4 Kitkat OS. It offers an internal storage option of 16GB to 64GB. The 13-megapixel rear-facing camera comes with a dual-LED flash and optical image stabilization. In addition, it features 4 MP secondary snapper. The phablet also features an Li-Ion 3,000mAh battery.

As we all know, price has always been the name of the game, more often than not, which is what Xiaomi is known for. So as expected by fans and users alike, the new Mi Note is sold at $399, a far cry from Apple's iPhone 6 Plus at $749, having similar features and specs, if not better as some would say.

The new device will be released either by the end of January or early February, so we will have to watch out for that. For more update on Xiaomi's products, keep tuning in to Franchise Herald.
