Prog rock gods Rush are celebrating the band's 40th anniversary with a Blu-Ray boxed set entitlled "R40," with footage spanning all four decades of the band's career.
"R40" will be available in two versions: a 10-disc DVD set or on six Blu-Ray discs and will feature performances of the band's last five tours including a set during their induction to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2013 and rare footages from their concerts in 1974.
Meanwhile, rumors that the band will be touring this year have hit the interwebs despite bassist Gedyy Lee saying that the group is "still talking" and is undecided wheteher or not they will hit the road anytime soon.
Speaking to Rolling Stone, Lee touched on the subject of touring.
"Everybody has a different idea how they want to spend the next couple of years, so we haven't come to a decision. I'm ready and happy to play if everyone else agrees. I think in the next couple of months we'll decide to do something or not."
So did their guitarist Alex Lifeson in a separate interview with Swedish magazine Red Hot Rock.
"We haven't discussed it too much, but that's just us. All around us, everybody's making plans for us. And it looks like we'll probably be going out next spring. Spring, 2015. So, we haven't discussed anything about the show or about the material or any of that stuff. But we're sort of aiming towards that as the start date for the next tour. But that'll be, I guess, our 41st anniversary tour or 40th plus, whatever. And we'll see how it goes. We need to stay healthy until then, though. Ha ha."
A blog dedicated to the band, "Rush Is A Band" have come across some very important news. Two dates have appeared over at Ticketmaster's page saying that the band is scheduled to perform on June 23 at the TD Bank Garden in Boston and on June 29 in Madison Square Garden. The dates have since been pulled down from the site with no official statement from the band or their reps about the incident.
