"Fashion Police" news reported how new host Kathy Griffin talked about the show's return following Joan Rivers' death. According to a report from Extra TV, the new E! mainstay said she felt the late comedienne's presence.
As "Fashion Police's" new host following the TV icon's untimely death last September 4, Kathy Griffin revealed how she felt Joan Rivers' spirit when the show returned after a four-month hiatus.
"I felt Joan's presence because Melissa was there," Kathy Griffin said, referring to Joan Rivers' only child and executive producer of the hit E! series.
"They were so entwined in each other's lives and everybody knows that so I was so glad that she was there."
"She's the bridge between the Joan era and hopefully what will be an era that we're able to continue," Kathy Griffin detailed about Joan Rivers' 46-year-old daughter. The late comedienne was 81 years old when she passed away following a botched operation at an Upper East Side clinic named Yorkville Endoscopy.
Regarded by many as Joan Rivers' protégé, Kathy Griffin admitted that she was nervous about joining "Fashion Police" when it returned last January 12. The hit fashion-critique show premiered with the Golden Globes 2015 red carpet review.
"I feel the pressure of living up to the legacy of Joan Rivers and the show," Kathy Griffin confessed.
Earlier "Fashion Police" news reported by Hollywood Life said the program began with Kathy Griffin remembering Joan Rivers.
"Before I start making more enemies and burning more bridges, I just want to thank my good friend whom we all miss, Joan Rivers," said the outspoken comic. The other "Fashion Police" hosts and people from the studio applauded.
"Of course, Joan, I know you're watching from heaven but don't get it twisted. I will not be afraid to bring the hammer down on anyone and everyone."
"I learned from the best," Kathy Griffin added about the late comedienne.
