It looks like both Winona Ryder and Michael Keaton will be reprising their roles in the "Beetlejuice" reboot directed by (to no surprise) Tim Burton.
Winona Ryder, who played gothic teen and Beetlejuice's love interest Lydia Deetz, hinted her participation late last year.
"I'm kind of sworn to secrecy but it sounds like it might be happening. It's 27 years later. And I have to say, I love Lydia Deetz so much. She was such a huge part of me. I would be really interested in what she is doing 27 years later," she said.
But Tim Burton beat Ryder to the punch, already confirming that she will indeed be joining the cast of the remake. Speaking to MTV, the director was asked if the actress would be returning in the sequel (via Screen Rant):
"Oh yeah, yeah yeah yeah. Oh yeah, oh yeah. Yeah yeah, oh yeah," said Burton.
Recently, Seth Grahame-Smith, the man responsible for the movie's screenplay gave this update in an exclusive with Entertainment Weekly (quote taken from Screen Rant):
"I've emailed with Michael Keaton. I know he's excited about the idea. I know Tim [Burton] is excited about the idea. Where it stands now is Tim's got to get ready to make [Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children], and then hopefully we are set, deals are done, and we're waiting in the wings ready to go right after Peregrine's wraps up. The ideal timeline is we're really getting into it toward the end of this year."
Grahame-Smith is also involved with another remake from the 80's, Gremlins. But he confirms that he's taking a "break" from it.
"I think we just ran out of steam. It's one of those things where everybody got busy doing other things. It's something I would love to come back to, but right now [Steven Spielberg's] making two movies back to back and Chris Columbus is busy. We're all taking a five-minute break on that."
