New 'Hannibal' Season 3 Cast Regular Gillian Anderson Says Show is 'Too Dark For Me' - Find Out More Here

| By

Excited how big Gillian Anderson's character will be in the new season of NBC TV series "Hannibal?" Just so you know the "X-Files" star has been promoted into a regular last year. Her character will start the new season in Europe with Dr. Hannibal Lecter (Mads Mikkelsen) to whom she also serves as a psychiatrist.

According to earlier spoilers, Gillian and Lecter are in Europe posing as a couple while the cannibalistic doctor hunts a new victim. Too bad because fans will have to wait more to get to know Dr. Bedelia as the "Hannibal" Season 3 premiere was moved to a later date.

Gillian Anderson is one of the biggest stars you will see regularly when "Hannibal" Season 3 premiere hits. Her character could either make or break Lecter's journey. Although she has starred in several TV series with dark theme before, Anderson said the NBC horror drama series is on another level.

"Hannibal is too dark for me! It is," Anderson said in an interview with the Hollywood Reporter.

"If I'm going to watch some of my scenes, I need to have my finger on the fast forward [button]. I literally am not that person. But what I am interested in there is I know the genius of [showrunner] Bryan Fuller and how extraordinary it is, what they're creating in an artistic vein."

Anderson also paid tribute to the brilliance of colleagues Mikkelsen and Hugh Dancy whose characters Lecter and Will Graham are somewhat away from each other during the "Hannibal" Season 3 premiere and succeeding episodes.

"And the opportunity to work with those three fine actors - and also when you're offered Hannibal Lecter's psychiatrist, that's a difficult thing to say no to! (Laughs.) So, it has more to do with all of that then any draw to the darkness because I'm not drawn to darkness at all."

Right now, fans need to have more patience as "Hannibal" Season 3 premiere was moved by NBC to summer.
