CW Network has released the "iZombie" trailer, almost one year since the announcement of the show. Ever since it was inaugurated, the DC comics-based series has been compared to a lot of shows on TV. One is AMC's "The Walking Dead" merely because it is about undead creatures. Despite the striking similarity, series developer Rob Thomas insisted theirs is different because their zombies are self-aware. He added that they are not going to 'out-gore' the hit AMC show which is also based on comics.
Other series where the "iZombie" TV show is being compared to are "Psych" and "The Mentalist." With its lead character Liv Moore possessing exceptional psychic ability, many can't help but compare the show to the two psychology inspired shows. As for Malcolm Goodwin who plays Clive Babinaux, the police partner of Liv, "iZombie" is different from those two because the protagonist is not exactly a psychic. Liver's ability to correctly predict things is not natural. It comes out only if she eat human brains.
"Obviously the audience is on the fact that she's not really psychic, that she eats brains and she gets visions but I don't know that," the "iZombie" TV show star said in an interview with Comicbook.com.
"So I think that's a nice relationship, being that the audience is in on something that my character isn't in on, especially with the whole procedural side of things. Also, how I deal with it. Me being in the dark about that leads to some really funny conversations, some funny back-and-forth between Liv and me."
As for how fun "iZombie" TV show is going to be, Goodwin said fans of the comic book will not be disappointed.
"But I think tonally, fans of the comic book will not be disappointed with the TV show. All they really did was just took the Gwen character and placed her in a different environment, but it's still the same tone, same sarcasm and kind of a similar struggle with her humanity. It's very close to the comic books in that regard."
