Stevie Wonder has filed for divorce from his fashion designer wife Kai Millard Morris after 11 years of marriage, according to People.
A spokeswoman for the 62-year-old musician says Wonder filed for divorce Friday in Los Angeles Superior Court. Wonder is asking for privacy for his former wife, his children and his family.
Wonder reveals he has been separated from Morris since October 2009, according papers filed Friday in Los Angeles Superior Court.
He filed the documents under his real name, Stevland Morris. Wonder cites irreconcilable differences and requests joint custody of the couple's two sons, ages 10 and 7.
This was the second marriage for Wonder, whose legal name is Stevland Morris. He reportedly has seven children in all from his marriages and relationships.
Wonder and Millard were wed in 2001. Wonder's attorney, Laura Wasser, has handled many celebrity divorces including Britney Spears, Robyn (Mrs. Mel) Gibson and Angelina Jolie, in the star's divorce from Billy Bob Thornton.
