Fans are wondering where Captain America's shield will end up with Chris Evans' six-movie contract with Marvel is nearing its end. Sebastian Stan, the actor playing Bucky Barnes has already signed up for nine films with the studio; so is the same case with Anthony Mackie who starred with Stan The Winter Soldier. Both are characters who have taken the first Avenger's shield in the comic books which begs the question: which one will be replacing Evans in Marvel's Cinematic Universe?
Mackie shed light on that topic in a recent interview with Windy City Live. The actor doesn't know who will be taking on Captain America's mantle just yet, instead he gave the chronological events of who carried the shield in the comic books which might be a precursor of the following films:
"Well, you know there are many incarnations in the comic book, and we are now going into the Civil War. So, if you look at it in the comic book, Cap gives Bucky the shield, Bucky gives it back to Cap, Cap gives it to me... Then Bucky goes off and marries Black Widow, so I keep the shield, give it back to Cap, and recently Cap wanted to be old, so he gave me the shield back and now I got the shield; I'm not giving it back." he said.
Until then, fans will just have to wait until Civil War to find out where the sheild will end up.
In a separate interview with HollywoodChicago, Mackie let slip a detail about his new costume:
"The new Falcon suit is gonna be much better than the old Falcon suit."
Prior to Captain America 3: Civil War which will release in theaters on May 6, 2016, Evans will be appearing in Avengers: Age of Ultron, releasing this year on May 1.
