Fox has been keeping up with Marvel and DC's releases, most recently with their head-turning announcement of a Gambit movie starring Channing Tatum, one of three X Men movies due out in 2016. This year they will be releasing the Josh Trank directed reboot of Fantastic Four.
X Men: Apocalypse, probably the most anticipated film in all of their brands is reportedly casting the roles the younger versions of Jean Grey, Storm and Cyclops.
Originally played by Famke Jannsen in the existing X-Men movies, Jean Grey will be played by a younger actress in the upcoming Apocalypse. Top contenders include English actress Sophie Turner from Game of Thrones, Hailee Steinfeld from True Grit, Saoirse Ronan notable for her performance in Hanna and Elle Fanning from Super 8 and Malificent Fame.
Actors eligible in playing Scott Summers aka Cyclops are Taron Egerton from the upcoming Kingsman: The Secret Service, Interstellar's Timothee Chalamet, Red Band's Society's Charlie Rowe and Tye Sheridan from 2012's Mud.
Currently, Tye Sheridan has been rumored to be the running favorite in playing the role of Cyclops. Chloe Grace Moretz of Kick-Ass fame had also been offered the role of young Jean Grey, negotiations with the actress eventually fell out because of scheduling conflicts which led her to turn the offer down.
Zendaya Coleman from last year's Zapped and Alexandra Shipp who played the title role in the late singer's biopic Aaliyah: Princess of R&B are both in contention of playing the younger version of Ororo Monroe aka Storm.
We still have a long way to go until "Apocalypse", we'll keep you updated on the final cast when information becomes available. In the meantime, here's Fox's complete schedule of releases:
