"Anaconda" singer Nicki Minaj had opened up her feelings on her ex-beau Safaree Samuels on her album "The Pinkprint". However, Samuels who had dated Minaj for 11 years, recently divulged on an interview with Power 105.1's "The Breakfast Club" on Tuesday, January 13, that Minaj had treated him like an "employee" while they were together.
According to Samuels, "I walked away. I'm not going to say I broke up, but I'm the one who walked away. I packed up my stuff and I left." Samuels added that he" just got to the point where the respect wasn't there. Everyone around her works for her, you know? So it got to the point where it was like, I'm your man. I'm who you go to sleep with every night. I'm who you wake up with every morning. And it got to the point where I was being treated like an employee, instead of like her man."
Although Samuels was engaged in a fight that occurred on social media platform Twitter with Minaj after she released her album track "Bed of Lies", he explained that he never want to "publicly to try to pull her down". He also said that what happened to them in the past was "personal" and he would "never put that out there".
The rapper had also explained previously why she had decided to tell the public about her relationship on her album tracks. Suring an interview with "Rolling Stone", she said that "One of my goals was to give people a glimpse into my personal life, because it's something I've kept very private. I had to learn to do something as simple as sleep alone. I struggled with 'Do I express these feelings?' And I decided there's no reason for me to hide. I'm a vulnerable woman, and I'm proud of that."
