Looking for a "Homeland" Season 5 spoiler? Well, there's not much but this one from the Showtime president will surely shock you. After taking a major reset for season four after having killed one of its major characters in season 3, the political drama series starring Claire Danes will make another massive changes with its story line.
During the Television Critics Association's semi-annual press tour on Monday, network's president David Nevins hinted the next season of "Homeland" could be very different from the last one viewers saw. This is because of the ongoing political crisis between countries, especially the ongoing division between Muslim nations and the United States.
"Where they're going to go next year is a little bit up in the air," Nevins said as reported by the Entertainment Weekly.
"We're not necessarily going to stay now and forever [focusing on] U.S. relations in the Muslim world. It's a show ultimately about U.S. foreign policy, U.S. intelligence in the 21st century at a very difficult time. So we're exploring a few different possibilities and may change it up a little bit."
Nevins insisted though that "Homeland" Season 5 will still focus on US foreign policy.
"The real franchise of the show is how difficult it is to be America in the world in the 21st century, how difficult the choices are. I think that's a story that will remain relevant for as long as they can come up with new stories. It could be Africa, it could be Europe, it could be back in another place in the Middle East. I don't expect that show to fall into a formula. I can see it coming back to the U.S. at some point."
Shortly after the end of the fourth season, several officials from different countries stood up and criticized the show for its storyline. Pakistan Embassy spokes." He called it a "disservice not only to the security interests of the US but also to the people of the US."
Israel, on the other hand, reacted ("Homeland" Season 4 spoiler ahead) over the show's portrayal of their former Prime Minister Menachem Benign who was described as a killer.
"It is slander against Menachem Begin and the state of Israel,"
"For me, it is like saying that [Begin and Haqqani] are both terrorists, just like saying they both wore brown shirts. It is surprising specifically because Homeland is based on the Israeli format Prisoners of War."
