Miles Teller showed Hollywood exactly what he can do infront of the camera in last year's Whiplash, a movie about a young drummer's path to greatness; the film also managed a best supporting actor win at the recent Golden Globe for Teller's Whiplash co-star J.K. Simmons.
This year, Teller appears in the Josh Trank directed Fantastic Four remake along with Kate Mara, Michael B. Jordan, Jamie Bell and Toby Kebbell.
The actor opens up on why the project appealed to him in this interview with IGN:
"Well, for me I didn't grow up really as a comic book kid necessarily. Fantastic Four is my dad's favorite superhero comic. And so for me I guess what attracted me originally was Josh Trank. I think Josh Trank is a very creative, inventive guy. You look at Chronicle, you look at what he did for that budget and just how he told the story was really well done. I want to chase directors at this point, and then the cast kind of came together - Michael B. (Jordan), Kate Mara, and Jamie Bell - I was very excited."
In a separate interview with Digital Spy, Teller reveals that the reasons behind his involvement with the remake is mainly because of the people he's working with:
If it was Spider-Man, that entire movie's on my shoulders and that's a more isolating experience," said the 28 year-old actor.
"I don't know if I would be into it, but the fact that it's a movie that I knew we'd share... the superhero world, that's a whole different animal. That's a pretty serious commitment."
Directed by Josh Trank, Fantastic Four will star Miles Teller as Reed Richards aka Mr. Fantastic, Kate Mara as Sue Storm aka Invisible Woman, Michael B. Jordan as Johnny Storm aka The Human Torch, Jamie Bell as Ben Grimm aka The Thing and Toby Kebbel as Dr. Doom.
The movie is scheduled to arrive in theaters on August 7.
