2k Games Mafia 3 release date might be imminent as voice actor Rick Pasqualone teased on Twitter about the third installment.
He told a fan, "Might have some Mafia news very soon!"
When another fan directly requested "make Mafia 3" he repeated: "Might have some exciting news very soon."
Many have speculated that the game might be launched soon, and if Rick Pasqualone's tweets are legit we might be seeing the protagonist Vito Scaletta on the third installment.
Mafia, the action adventure game, was first released in 2002 for PC, and followed by a sequel in 2010 for other platforms such as Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. The Mac OS X version was released in December 2011 by Feral Interactive and dubbed as "direct sequel to 2002's Mafia: The City of Lost Heaven."
Mafia fans are now appealing for another sequel, because it has been almost five years since the Mafia 2 was released.
Three years ago, the third installment was rumored to have entered full production, and another report claims Mafia 3 was in development at 2K Czech for Xbox One and PlayStation 4, and was going to be a launch title for those platforms, Gamespot reports. In the same year reports had surfaced that a casting call held in March 2014 was for the Mafia 3 in Louisiana.
Later it was reported that the game suffered from production issues resulting to ruined plans. Last year, it was reported that 2K Games closed 2K Czech's main office, and relocated some developers to a satellite studio in Brno and others to 2K's main headquarters in Novato, California. It is still unclear which office manages the production of the third installment.
Furthermore, Play-Asia has listed Mafia 3 for release on both PS4 and Xbox One, and pre-orders will be available "soon", but according to Video Gamers in response to these Mafia 3 rumors, 2K Games was asked if these rumors spawning were true, but the a company representative said that the company "doesn't comment on internet rumor and speculation."
