Expect big changes when The Strain Season 2 release date comes. The FX horror drama does not just up the ante when it comes to their vampires, they are also gearing up for a more emotional sophomore run. Among the steps they have taken is recasting one of the characters that played a big part from last season.
Entertainment website Deadline reported that Ben Hyland, who plays the son of Eph Goodweather (Corey Stoll), will not bee seen once the The Strain Season 2 release date hits.
"It is a pleasure to welcome Max Charles to the cast," The Strain executive producer/showrunner Carlton Cuse said in a statement to Deadline.
"We recast this part due to some specific story needs we have downstream. We are sad to see Ben go. He is a very talented actor and a wonderful person. We will all miss him and thank him for his great work."
There is no The Strain Season 2 release date yet but show writer and director Guillermo del Toro teased that the second season will be a lot bigger and more exciting. In an interview back in October last year, he said that the TV series based on his novel of the same name will welcome more 'creatures.'
"No. Actually, we start with The Strain in November, and I'm going to be shooting a creature unit, the action unit, and I'm going to be shooting the Mexican luchador footage, the black-and-white footage that appears in the series," he said in an interview with Spin-off website.
"Then I shoot a little movie in April, a small one. Then I start prepping immediately in May. And we start production in end of November, beginning of December."
He also wants to assure the quality of the show by trying to get more involved in The Strain's second season.
"My hope is that I remain in that capability for the entire season. I originally was going to do a very small project around April or May, but there are some issues in the family that I have to take care of," Del Toro said when asked by Wall Street Journal about his plans for the Strain Season 2.
