With the rise of superhero films, remake of classic hero films is just common sense. Among the many marketable superhero characters is He-Man from the 1987 "Masters of the Universe" film.
The remake of the classic Dolph Lundgren film directed by Gary Goddard is on a roll, as the script has been reportedly completed by "Kick-Ass 2" director Jeff Wadlow. Following this news, other details including release date and even casting has surfaced online.
The announcement came in November 2014 from Devon Franklin, Senior VP of Production via Twitter that a draft for "He-Man: Masters of the Universe" will be ready in the studio by the holidays. The tweet said:

2015 opens with a bang for fans of "He-Man: Masters of the Universe" as Columbia Pictures announces that indeed the remake of the classic film is not only in the works, but that the script is completed. Franklin greets fans with a photo of the cover page of the completed script by the first day of January.
"He-Man: Masters of the Universe" reboot news have surfaced as early as 2007 with John Woo as director, and in 2009 with Sony in the helm. However, both films did not materialize. Other attempts have been made throughout the years but it's only this year that we're seeing more development.
Dolph Lundgren, star of the 1987 "He-Man: Masters of the Universe" was said to be in negotiations during the 2012 plans of remake, of course not to reprise his role as He-Man, but to portray King Randor. Whether this casting news carries over to the rewritten "He-Man: Masters of the Universe" remains to be seen.
"He-Man: Masters of the Universe" release date also has yet to be announced, possibly after production details including casting and filming schedule are finalized. Hopefully, Columbia releases more information especially who will portray the much-awaited characters of He-Man and the villainous, Skeletor.
