In early December last year," Suicide Squad" movie has included "How to Get Away with Murder" cast Viola Davis as the ruthless, no non-sense Amanda Waller. Latino Review first confirmed the casting. She beat the likes of Octavia Spencer and media mogul Oprah Winfrey who sources said the is the first choice for the role.
For the first time, Davis confirmed that she is part of the Suicide Squad cast as Waller to whom the Justice League has a love and hate relationship. Nerd Report caught up with the veteran actress for the media junket of her latest film Blackhat and asked her if she had read any materials about her character.
"Not yet," Davis said. "I have not started reading them yet. I've read up about her but I'm working out my schedule for Suicide Squad."
The movie will be released by next year. Do you think fans have something to be worried about despite Davis being a versatile actress? One thing for sure though is that she is enjoying and very much looking forward to her new project.
"I'm fascinated by her. I'm fascinated by her in this world of superhero-ness because she is not a woman that you would expect," she said.
"I think that she is a massive contradiction. She's this big powerful black woman, hard, ready to pick up a gun and shoot anyone at will. I'm fascinated in exploring her psychology, just put it that way. And I'm excited to pick up a gun."
Aside from Davis, other confirmed as part of the Suicide Squad movie cast are Will Smith as Deadshot, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Jared Leto as the Joker, Tom Hardy as Rick Flag, Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang, and Cara Delevingne as Enchantress. It will be produced by Dan Lin (The Lego Movie, Sherlock Holmes) and will be written and directed by David Ayer (Fury, Street Kings, and The Fast and the Furious).
