Kristen Stewart cheated on Twilight co-star Robert Pattinson with Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders and issued an apology on Wednesday. Robert Pattinson is "heartbroken and humiliated" after finding out Stewart was unfaithful to him.
NY Post sources say Pattinson was "stunned" when he found out that his girlfriend - although only official now - of four years admitted to kissing the 41-year old director who is nearly twice her age.
"I'm deeply sorry for the hurt and embarrassment I've caused to those close to me and everyone this has affected," Stewart said in a statement Wednesday, according to Perez Hilton. "This momentary indiscretion has jeopardized the most important thing in my life, the person I love and respect the most, Rob. I love him, I love him, I'm so sorry,"
The British director is married to actress Liberty Ross, 33 - who ironically starred as Kristen Stewart's mother in Snow White - have two children together, 7-year-old daughter Skyla and 5-year-old son Tennyson.
UsWeekly first broke the story of the affair and feature photos of the couple kissing and in an intimate embrace in their latest magazine. According to the magazine, the two were "kissing like crazy". "They'd only take a break whenever someone walked by. It seemed like they couldn't get enough of each other. She was swept up in the moment," the source said.
When Ross was asked on Twitter what she thought of the photos on UsWeekly, she simply tweeted "Wow".
Sanders also released a statement on Wednesday shortly after Stewart acknowledged the affair. "I am utterly distraught about the pain I have caused my family," Sanders said in a statement to People. "My beautiful wife and heavenly children are all I have in this world. I love them with all my heart. I am praying that we can get through this together."
Stewart and Robert Pattinson were last seen walking the carpet at the Teen Choice Awards on Sunday night. The couple met during the first Twilight film in 2008, and almost immediately, rumors began to make the rounds that they were romantically involved. They have remained mum on their relationship until now. The last installment of the Twilight film, Breaking Dawn - Part 2, is due in November.
