Fantastic Four Remake: What We Know So Far From Marvel's First Family's Reboot; Fox Confirms August 7 Release Date

| By

Fox recently rearranged their list of films and announced their releases all the way up to 2018. Assassin's Creed which stars Michael Fassbender and was originally set for August 7 this year has been replaced with Josh Trank's remake of Fantastic Four. Additionally, they have already given a release date to a Fantastic Four sequel coming in 2017. But let's not get to far ahead, here's a what-we-know-so-far about the remake of Marvel's "first family":

Actor Miles Teller who starred in last year's Whiplash is taking the role of Reed Richards aka Mr. Fantastic, albeit younger compared to Ioan Gruffudd in Rise of The Silver Surfer. Teller has been receiving a lot of good feedback from Whiplash, it's exciting to see what he'll do with Fantastic Four.

Kate Mara will play Reed Richard's wife as Susan Storm aka Invisible Woman. This won't be Mara's first apperance in a Marvel Universe movie, the actress did a brief cameo as a U.S. Marshal in Iron Man 2. As with Jessica Alba's interpretation of Sue in the latest film, we are expecting her to have the same superpowers of turning invisible and creating forcefields.

Jamie Bell, to the surprise of everyone is playing Ben Grimm aka The Thing. Bell, known for his work in Jumper, Snowpiercer and Steven Spielberg's The Adventures of Tintin has been enjoying a steady success in Hollywood and has been chosen to bring the character of the the big orange bruiser to life.

Casting for Johnny Storm has received backlash from fans with Michael B. Jordan bagging the role. In the comic books, the character has always appeared to be caucasian. Jordan has since responded to the public outcry (speaking to TMZ): "They're still going to see it anyway".

Toby Kebbel will play the Fantastic Four's greatest enemy Dr. Doom. His portrayal will take a slight change dropping the name Victor Von Doom, apart from that not much is known about how he'll portray the central villain.

Josh Trank's selection of talents might not be what everyone expected, but it seems he is confident enough that a sequel is already in development.
