While there aren't many updates on the "Fantastic Four" remake except that the movie has wrapped up with filming in August last year and will launch in the same month this year, Fox has already announced the release date of it's sequel. However, therein lies a problem - DC's "Wonder Woman" is premiering on the same weekend.
The sequel which was initially announced for July 14, 2017 has been moved to June 22, 2017 and it is speculated that "Wonder Woman" will arrive on the 23rd the following day. DC has managed to do better in avoiding a showdown at the box office with "Batman Vs Superman Dawn of Justice" initially set to release on May 6, 2016 the same weekend as Marvel's "Captain America 3: Civil War." Dawn of Justice has since been moved to March 24, 2016
Fox seems to have a penchant for rearranging their movies, case in point with Michael Fassbender's "Assassin's Creed" set to be released August this year with "Fantastic Four" taking its place.
In the meantime, here's the official synopsis for the movie:
"THE FANTASTIC FOUR, a contemporary re-imagining of Marvel's original and longest-running superhero team, centers on four young outsiders who teleport to an alternate and dangerous universe, which alters their physical form in shocking ways. Their lives irrevocably upended, the team must learn to harness their daunting new abilities and work together to save Earth from a former friend turned enemy." - via The Mary Sue.
The "Fantastic Four" remake will star Miles Teller as Reed Richards - Mr. Fantastic, Kate Mara as Sue Storm - Invisible Woman, Michael B. Jordan as Johnny Storm - The Human Torch, Jamie Bell as Ben Grimm - The Thing and Toby Kebbell as the villain Doctor Doom. The Josh Trank directed film will launch in U.S. theaters on August 7.
