Love encompasses all, even age. This is proven by British actor and comedian Stephen Fry who confirmed on Tuesday that he is going to wed to his boyfriend Elliott Spencer. The catch? Fry is 57 and Spencer is 27, 30 years his junior.
The "Bones" actor took to Twitter in the early hours of Tuesday morning to tell the public that he is marrying his 27-year-old boyfriend Spencer. Fry had proudly confirmed the news on his personal life after "The Sun" revealed the news that Fry was engaged on Monday, January 5.
The Golden Globe Award nominee wrote, "Oh. It looks as though a certain cat is out of a certain bag. I'm very very happy of course but had hoped for a private wedding. Fat chance!"
The British comedian had publicly went out with Spencer, who is actually also a comedian, just this past fall. Fry was previously linked to Daniel Cohen and a younger actor Steven Webb before dating Spencer. Fry continued to write, "Thank you all SO much for your kind congratulations." He added, "Deeply touched xxx... Your adorable tweets are bringing me close to sobbing."
Fry's assistant had also confirmed the engagement news to BBC. His assistant said in a statement to BBC that, "Stephen Fry is very happy and proud to say that he has set the wheels in motion for a wedding sometime in the future but no date has been set due to a busy work schedule."
When Fry was asked previously by "Digital Fry" back in 2007 in "10 Things You Never Knew about Stephen Fry" when he first acknowledged his sexuality, he said, "I suppose it all began when I came out of the womb. I looked back up at my mother and thought to myself, 'That's the last time I'm going up one of those'". Fry was in a 15-year long relationship with Daniel Cohen which ended back in 2010.
