2015 Rush Tour Set For Band's 41st Anniversary; Guitarist Alex Lifeson Undecided To Continue Shows For Now

| By

Progressive rock veterans Rush have celebrated their band's 40th anniversary with a commemorative box set entitled "R40" and will span all four decades of the band's career.

The box set will be available in a 10-DVD set or on six Blu-Ray discs and will feature complete performances of the group's last five tours including their performance at their induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame back in 2013. It will also contain concerts of the band playing in 1974, the year where they debuted their first album.

Meanwhile, rumors circulating that the band is planning a tour despite bassist Geddy Lee stating that the band is "still talking" and are undecided whether or not they will push through this year.

Here's an interview of Lee with Rolling Stone published back in November last year:

"Everybody has a different idea how they want to spend the next couple of years, so we haven't come to a decision. I'm ready and happy to play if everyone else agrees. I think in the next couple of months we'll decide to do something or not."

Guitarist Alex Lifeson shed a bit more detail into the rumored 41st anniversary tour in an interview with Swedish magazine Red Hot Rock:

We haven't discussed it too much, but that's just us. All around us, everybody's making plans for us. And it looks like we'll probably be going out next spring. Spring, 2015. So, we haven't discussed anything about the show or about the material or any of that stuff. But we're sort of aiming towards that as the start date for the next tour. But that'll be, I guess, our 41st anniversary tour or 40th plus, whatever. And we'll see how it goes. We need to stay healthy until then, though. Ha ha."

But in the past month, a blog dedicated in brining the latest news about the band, appropriately called "Rush Is A Band", came across some very information. Two dates belonging to the band has appeared over at the Ticketmaster page - a reported June 23 at the TD Bank Garden in Boston and another on June 29 at the Madison Square Garden in New York. Sadly for fans, the dates have been pulled down from the site since the report with no official statements from either the band or their rep's following up on the news.
