Ever since getting killed off in "Homeland" Season 3 finale, many fans can't help but ask for Damian Lewis' new series. Seeing the British actor leave the Showtime political drama was painful for many fans who loved Damin Brody through the first three seasons.
However, he has to say goodbye because of all the emotional, physical, and psychological torture he went through. What's worse about it, fans came up empty when it comes to their desire of seeing Lewis again.
After "Homeland," the former "Band of Brothers" star went on to do movie films like "Our Kind of Traitor" and "Queen of the Desert," both to hit theaters this year. In terms of television appearances, Lewis did not have anything in 2014 except his brief and shocking appearance in "Homeland" Season 4.
This year, fans of Brody will be treated to a feast as a new Damian Lewis new series is coming. The 43-year old actor is going to be a part of BBC's two period drama "Wolf Hall" which is based on Hilary Mantel's novels, "Wolf Hall" and "Bring Up the Bodies." Check the "Wolf Hall" trailer below:
Damian Lewis' new series don't have a premiere date yet. The "Homeland" star will play as Henry VIII of England. Other cast members are Mark Rylance as Thomas Cromwell, Claire Foy as Anne Boleyn, Mark Gatiss as Stephen Gardiner, and Charity Wakefield as Mary Boleyn.
In a report by Breaking News, Damian said that he sees a lot of similarities between him and his new character.
"The more I read about him the more I was happy - and alarmed - to find that I did share character traits with him," he said.
"I suppose everyone else will be the judge of it, but certainly sitting in the clothes, it feels like a canny piece of casting, because I do feel, I do find similarities between myself and him."
Lewis also said that while filming Wolf Hall and studying his role, the more he learns about people's misconception about one of England's most important persons.
"I think we all have this understanding that he was this womanising, syphilitic, bloated, genocidal Elvis character. And actually the truth is, though it might be an odd thing to mention, he had a 32-inch waist and he remained that way for quite a long time," Damian explained.
"He was the pre-eminent sportsman in his court. He was much taller than anyone else. His beautiful, pale complexion was often remarked upon by commentators."
