Taylor Swift, Laverne Cox And Beyonce On Top 3 List Of Most Charitable Celebrity Last 2014

| By

Taylor Swift surely did write her name on the blank space. It's the "Shake It Off" singer's third year of being crowned as DoSomething.org's most charitable celeb, beating 19 other stars including, Emma Watson, Laverne Cox and John Legend.

All thanks to the release of her hit album "1989" that sold over 1.2 million copies just from its first week, the 25-year-old country-turned-pop singer Taylor Swift has had an excellent year. As one of her promotions for the album, she released the single entitled "Welcome to New York" and all the proceeds she earned from it, the singer donated it to New York City Public Schools.

Her donation was one of the major reasons why users of DoSomething.org voted Swift as 2014's top celebrity do-gooder, the honor and title that she has been maintaining since 2012. Laverne Cox takes the top 2 spot after the actress played the recurring role of Sophia Burset in the Netflix acclaimed series "Orange Is the New Black" and became a voice for the LGBT community.

Cox even outranked her idol, Beyoncé, when the 33-year-old "Partition" singer came in at the No. 3 spot in the list. Following Beyoncé is Miley Cyrus with the 4th spot and Emma Watson coming in at the top five. According to the press release of DoSomething.org, stars Beyoncé and Watson got recognition for bringing "feminism to the forefront," while Cyrus was credited for acknowledging and putting the spotlight on the homeless because back in August, she prominently let homeless teen Jesse Helt speak on her behalf at the MTV VMAs.

Other stars included in the Most Charitable Celebs list are Chris Pratt, whose March of Dimes Celebration of Babies speech about his pre-mature born son Jack went viral, Tyler Oakley, who helped raise more than half a million dollars for The Trevor Project, Olivia Wilde, who co-founded the charitable Conscious Commerce, and Justin Bieber, who, according to the site, has granted over 200 wishes for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
