Judd Apatow is not making a joke at all. After learning that more than 30 women have courageously come forward and accused the 77-year-old legendary comedian Bill Cosby for drugging, raping or sexually abusing them, Judd is infuriated that venues has not made cancellations on his appearance and continue to book his shows.
"so @Centre_Square - are you really going to let Bill Cosby perform on your stage January 7?" the "Begin Again" producer said on Twitter after Christmas day. "You too @BudGardens Jan 8? Is Cosby only popular in Ontario Canada at this point? Do people still find him delightful after 30 accuses?"
Because of his tweets, a number of Cosby fans retaliated and defended their idol, to which Apatow promptly replied.
"'@mikeandrewb: @JuddApatow @Centre_Square and ur obsession is because...?' I guess it's because guys who rape a lot aren't cool," he wrote.
One follower who was a Cosby fan tweeted to Apatow, "@juddapatow should these allegations be proven to be true, obviously it's a terrible thing. If they are untrue, imagine being Cosby," to which he replied, ".@katiebearpink imagine how those people felt to be losing consciousness and realizing what he was going to do. Unable to stop the nightmare."
The Golden Globe nominee continued on, saying, "Also- I am pretty sure I have had sex with less people than he raped. I always wonder why some people try so hard to not believe women who have been assaulted. What is the root of that?"
When Page Six shared a link of an article on Twitter about Cosby having hired private investigators to dig up dirt on the 30 or so suspected victims, Apatow replied, writing, ".@PageSix they should remake the Cosby show with scenes of Dr. Huxtable doing what Cosby has been doing. A perfect show for FX."
Apatow even acknowledged the fact that those who defended the "I Spy" star were only few and far between.
"I think one in a Hundred thousand people support Cosby," he wrote. "I am gonna stop responding to them so often. It is just maddening though. So cold."
