Well, it is not just fans who are eager to see the Floyd Mayweather Jr vs Manny Pacquiao. Even the Filipino fighter himself is excited. In fact, he included it in his wish list for this year based on a tweet on the eve of New Year's Day in his country.
"The ball will drop at midnight to usher in 2015. @FloydMayweather let's not drop the ball on fighting each other next year! #LetsMakeFistory" - Manny Pacquiao tweeted.
The two player's social media war is one of the many reasons why the Floyd Mayweather Jr vs Manny Pacquiao talks intensified over the past weeks. Before the tweet above, Manny also tweeted about the undefeated American fighter and called him a 'humbug.'
"@FloydMayweather, don't be a boxing humbug. Let's give the fans the fight they want. They have waited long enough."
There are still a lot to work on to finally seal a date and venue for Floyd Mayweather Jr vs Manny Pacquiao fight. Although the two players are bold with their intentions to fight each in their appearances on TV, the two camps are yet to sit down to talk about it.
Meanwhile, experts are predicting that the Floyd Mayweather vs Manny Pacquiao bout will still earn big time despite being '5 years late.'
"I agree the fight is five years too late, they're not at their prime anymore and there is no doubt about that. Having said that, if the fight is made it'll still be the highest paying fight in the history of the sport," ESPN analyst Teddy Atlas said in an interview with ESNEWS.
"The reason it'll be the highest paid fight of all time is because fight fans have been in the Sahara Desert with their tongue hanging out for so long that now they're ready to buy something, even if it is a mirage. They are past their prime, and [fans] are still going to buy it."
